Garcia and Farquharson, on the other hand, had no trouble defeating Martin Noschese and Guillermo Villafane 6-2, 6-3 for the Dhs30,000 first-place prize. The Gold category champion and runners-up will receive Dhs 24,000, while the Bronze category champion and runners-up will receive Dhs 20,000 and Dhs15,000.

Sheikh Saeed admitted after his victory that he was nervous heading into the final, "because the technical quality of the tournaments this year has been massive."

“But we were able to break through the resistance and play at a standard that allowed us to win the championship,” he said. “I would like to thank all of the players who took part in the tournament and for the high levels they offered. This tournament validates the progress and growth of padel in the UAE.”

Meanwhile, Garcia was overjoyed that his preparations for the tournament had paid off.

“I am overjoyed to have won the award here in NAS,” he said. “I had trained for months in preparation for this tournament. The tournament was fantastic, and I am overjoyed that so many people are becoming interested in padel, which is great for the sport's progress.

“I'm excited to compete in more competitions like this one. Let’s hope, with this pandemic, everything will improve."

“The next step for me will be the world [championships].” I will serve NAS in those competitions and do my best in both of them.”
