The IPL vs. the Caribbean Cricketers do not have much breathing space in the Premier League

West Indies cricketers who are participants of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and South Africans Faf du Plessis, Chris Morris, and Imran Tahir, might find it difficult to choose among CPL and the IPL after being named to CPL squads late on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated on Saturday that the halted IPL will be finished in the UAE between mid-September and mid-October. The Caribbean Premier League will take place in the West Indies from August 28 to September 19. The IPL-contracted players will complete their CPL responsibilities in the Caribbean before traveling to the UAE for the IPL.

Though a potential bubble-to-bubble transfer will guarantee that players arriving in the UAE would not have to be under quarantine, the long travel is expected to wear out CPL players and offer a few of the players who might represent national teams no rest before the T20 World Cup assignment no respite. The T20 World Cup is expected to begin in mid-October — the planned date is Oct. 18 — directly following the IPL.

West Indian IPL players included in CPL teams include Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, and Shimron Hetmyer.

International stars in CPL include Shakib Al Hasan, Faf du Plessis, Anrich Nortje, Imran Tahir, and Chris Morris, who previously played for IPL franchises.

The IPL is anticipated to feature a significant number of Australians, who make up the majority of foreigners in the competition, but they will have an extremely busy schedule.

Australia's limited-overs players will be busy with international commitments in July (West Indies) and August (Bangladesh), followed by a brief recovery time before the T20 World Cup, which begins in mid-October, and a demanding season in Australia that includes the Ashes. The rest week in September would now be spent participating in the IPL. It will be interesting to watch how Cricket Australia reacts to this.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has stated that the national team's international schedule would not be compromised.

England's Test players, including Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, and Sam Curran, may be unavailable due to limited-overs matches in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The BCCI will proceed even if Australian and English players are not there. The CPL will consist of 33 matches, all of which will be conducted at Warner Park in St Kitts, with the final scheduled for September 19.
