The Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, formally launched the Fujairah Terminals expansion plan on Sunday, which includes infrastructure development and service development projects for the vital marine port. Fujairah Terminals is one of the most significant economic, commercial, and logistical centres in the Middle East.
Fujairah Terminals, founded in 2017 as a significant hub for international trade in the emirate of Fujairah, is part of Abu Dhabi Ports, the region's foremost logistics, transport, and commerce provider.
Fujairah Terminals, controlled entirely by Abu Dhabi Ports, has recently taken a major step in its 1 billion DHS long-term initiative for the construction of Fujairah Port multifunctional terminal infrastructure.
Completing the work begun three years ago would boost the overall cargo flow at the port to 1,3 million tonnes, the multifunctional space of 25,000 sq. m. for general cargo services and Ro-Ro, and the container capabilities to 720,000 TEU, with such an overall container terminal space of 110,000 sq. m.
Additionally, the quay wall has already been extended from 760 to 1000 meters, and the approach has now been deepened from 12 to 15 meters, allowing the port to accommodate larger boats.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi emphasized Fujairah Terminals' status as a key worldwide marine hub owing to its excellent facilities and capabilities to accommodate ships of all sizes and classifications, and also tankers and cargo.
‘'Owing to the guidelines of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and its strategic geographical position, the emirate of Fujairah has now become a leading international maritime transport hub, facilitating it to attract business and assist the national sustainable advancement procedure,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah eGovernment; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; and Awaidha Murshed Ali Al Marar, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohammed Rashid Ahmed Al Hamli, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Chairman of the Department of Energy-Abu Dhabi, reviewed the ongoing development at the Fujairah Terminal, which involves a customer happiness facility, X-ray checking, and custom inspection areas, a 600 square meter engineering workshop, and an operations control centre.
The port's advancement is in sync with the Fujairah Strategic Plan 2040, and its innovative infrastructure and improved services will assist the comprehensive strategy targeted at elevating Fujairah's stature as a key hub for increasing trade between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, India, the Red Sea, and East Africa. “It is our delight to welcome Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi to Fujairah Terminals to view the massive development project going place at Fujairah Terminals,” said Falah Mohammad Al Ahbabi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Ports.

Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Court of Fujairah Emiri, and the Department of Energy's undersecretary Mohammed Juma bin Jarsh Al Falasi - Abu Dhabi, had attended the opening ceremony, Rashed Al Balooshi, Captain Mousa Murad, General Manager of the Port of Fujairah, and Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, Director-General of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, served as Undersecretaries of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development.
