Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is taking part in Expo 2020 Dubai with a huge pavilion that has a contemporary architecture that corresponds with Dewa's role as Expo 2020 Dubai's Official Sustainable Energy Partner.

“Dewa's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai offers guests a one-of-a-kind experience. It emphasizes Dewa's creative projects and efforts, particularly in renewable sources of energy, and the use of Fourth Industrial Revolution technology to obstruct the whole public utility sector. Dewa aspires to be the world's first digital utility to employ autonomous technologies via Digital Dewa, the company's digital branch. Its ambitions are consistent with the Dubai 10X program, which seeks to put the Dubai government 10 years ahead of many other cities through government innovation,” stated Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world's biggest single-site solar park with a planned capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030, is highlighted in Dewa's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. When completed, the solar park will save approximately 6.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year.

Using photovoltaic solar panels, the park's current capacity has reached 1,013MW. In addition to other segments, Dewa has 1,850 MW under construction utilizing photovoltaic solar panels and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) to achieve 5,000MW by 2030.

Dewa shall present the Green Hydrogen initiative, the Mena's first of its type to manufacture hydrogen using solar electricity. These were implemented in conjunction with DEWA, Expo 2020 Dubai, and Siemens Energy at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park's outdoor testing facilities.

The pilot plant has been developed to support future applications and test facilities for various hydrogen usage such as industry and transportation.

Dewa Digital, the company's digital arm, strives to make Dewa the world's first digital utility to employ automated systems for sustainable energy and storage, while also extending the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services. Digital Dewa is built on four pillars: solar energy, energy storage, artificial intelligence, and digital services.

Dewa had set up space in their pavilion for the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME). It is part of the collaboration between both the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and DEWA and the United States Department of Energy.

Dewa shall exhibit its designs during the second SDME that will be hosted in connection with Expo 2020 Dubai. Dewa would also display the design that earned first place in the first SDME, which Dewa hosted in 2018. It was created by a team from Virginia Tech in the United States.

A 250MW pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in Hatta is one of Dewa's groundbreaking and unique projects. A first of its kind in the GCC, the station would have a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatt-hours, a life duration of up to 80 years, and an investment of approximately  Dhs1.421 million.

Dewa shall devote a unique booth to the World Green Economy Organization as part of its pavilion (WGEO).

Dewa will demonstrate its Space-D initiative, which seeks to expand Dewa's capabilities and teach Emirati professionals to utilize space technology to improve its power and water networks, leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.

Dewa's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will include a scale replica of its new headquarters, dubbed "Al Shera'a" (Arabic for Sail). This will be the world's tallest, biggest, and most advanced government Zero Energy structure.
