On Eid Al Adha, UAE citizens would most likely get the longest holiday of the year. As per the International Astronomical Centre, the first day of Eid Al Adha in most Islamic nations would be July 20 (Tuesday). Arafat Day is expected to be commemorated on July 19. (Monday).

According to Mohammad Odeh, Chairman of the International Astronomical Centre, the month of Zul Hijjah1442 AH is due to commence on July 10. (Saturday).

Although these dates are dependent on moon sighting, if the prediction is right, UAE citizens may enjoy six-day Eid holidays, the longest break in 2021.

The four-day Eid Al Adha celebrations are expected to start on Arafat Day, July 19 (Monday), and end on July 22. (Thursday). This will be followed by a two-day weekend on the 23rd and 24th of July. This applies to people who already have two days off every week.

Zul Hijjah is the Islamic calendar's last month, and Muslims celebrate Eid Al Adha on the 10th of this month. Muhammad Habib, a Sharjah resident, said it will provide a much-needed break for him because he hasn't left his workplace in six months.

“Although I won't be prepared to commute to Pakistan for Eid owing to airline difficulties, I would enjoy the extended vacation at home with some of my close friends. It's a much-needed vacation for me because I haven't taken a single day off from work except for normal weekends. I'll relax with friends, watch some films, and enjoy the food; it should be enough for me to unwind.”

Saqib, a businessman in Dubai, said he plans to spend the six-day Eid holiday with his family and friends.

“Even though big gatherings are prohibited to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, I will celebrate Eid with my family and meet a couple of friends on the second or third day. We all should follow the instructions given by the authorities when celebrating Eid as part of the steps to control the deadly virus,” he said.

The UAE cabinet designated national holidays for both the public and commercial sectors in 2021 and 2022. The following are the upcoming holidays for 2021 that have been declared:

• 10,11,12 Zul Hijjah: Eid Al Adha

• Augs.12: Islamic New Year

• Oct.21: Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday

• Dec.1: Commemoration Day

• Dec.2 and 3: National Day
