Louvre The Children's Museum in Abu Dhabi is scheduled to reopen with an intriguing exhibition in which children would be able to recognize and understand emotions using artwork and interactive experiences. The Emotions!: The New Art Adventure show, which opens on June 18, will contain ten artworks and various interactive stations to help children get acquainted with recognizing emotions, which is a significant milestone in a child's growth.
Emotions!, which could run until 2023, will blend entertainment and education over three floors of engaging experiences, gamification, and interactive play spaces, helping children aged four to ten to learn about different emotions and how to recognize them.
At the exhibition, children begin their art 'journey' by creating a personal profile and receiving a wristband to gain points through activities and challenges. Visitors are initially introduced to artworks from various times and geographical areas through a sequence of observation exercises, wherein they learn about the hidden intricacies and tales behind every piece.
Interactive games and activities will feature numerous digital and touchless experiences, and a workshop section featuring self-led instruction about how to convey emotions via various art activities such as sketching, collage, and 3D painting, virtually taught by three young Emirati artists. Kids will learn how to convey emotions through body language using a touchless interactive game that uses movement recognition.
The ages between four and ten are considered pivotal in a child's development. During this time, children attempt to establish a sense of self and learn about their emotions and how to express them. Emotions! encourages children to interact with their emotions via play and learning, with educational games and experiences assisting children in learning empathy, openly expressing emotion, letting go of bad feelings, and discovering that all emotions are acceptable.
“The Louvre Abu Dhabi's Children's Museum is a paradise of exploration, learning, and stimulation, and that we are happy to see it reopen its doors to children and their families,” said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. The arts have all the potential to unlock a child's creativity, allowing them to view themselves and the world from a new perspective.
“Our children's emotional well-being is equally as essential as their physical well-being, so this significant exhibition utilizes art as a catalyst for young kids to communicate with and healthily express their feelings.”
“The Children's Museum lies at the core of Louvre Abu Dhabi's aim to connect the next generation through art,” said Manuel Rabaté, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi. There was much discussion on how the events of the last 15 months have affected children's emotional and social development, and therefore we should be reopening the Children's Museum with a well-planned exhibition that supports these key components. With free admission for youngsters, it is a valuable day out for families.”
“To guarantee an interesting and interactive experience, Emotions! provides children and families a range of interactive and gamified activations which will enable them to discover the world of emotions through the lens of art,” said Amine Kharchach, interpretation & mediation manager at Louvre Abu Dhabi. Emotions! also use cutting-edge technology to provide the safest, touch-free, but engaging experience possible in a family-friendly environment.”
Visitors under the age of 18 are allowed free of charge to the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Families just need to buy museum entry tickets for accompanying grownups to gain entrance to all Louvre Abu Dhabi galleries and exhibitions. The ticket price includes access to the Children's Museum.
Most Children's Museum activities are touch-less to guarantee the safety of all visitors, and material sharing in exercises is not permitted. Capacity limitations and social distance will be enforced in all Children's Museum locations, and sanitizing stations will be accessible.
The Children's Museum is a continuous exhibition platform and an extension of the educational programs of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Since its inception in 2017, this has welcomed children and families with three unique exhibitions: Traveling Shapes and Colors (2017–2018), Animals, Between Real and Imaginary (2018–2019), and A Costume Adventure (2019–2020).
