Pointed ears’ is the new plastic surgery trend.

The craze for a new form of cosmetic surgery known as pointy ears or pointed ears is increasing in China.

The pointed ear is said to mimic the ears of numerous cartoon creatures from fairy tales and animated shows. It seems to provide the face a slimmer contour.

According to a Courier International article, the trend of the pointed ear has gotten a lot of attention, engagement, and involvement on social media in recent times.

According to the publication, there was already a high demand for pointed ear surgery, at plastic surgery facilities, that several candidates enrolled their names on waiting lists, and physicians conducted six pointy ear procedures in a single day.

The surgery is performed in two stages, the first of which involves the placement of a prosthesis or cartilage in the rear of the ear. Hyaluronic acid filler is injected in the second step.

However, this procedure, like most others, carries considerable dangers given the likelihood of allergic responses and infections triggered by skin pricks.

According to a survey by the research firm “Deloitte,” the plastic surgery industry in China is seeing very rapid development, with market revenue increasing from around €8.3 billion in 2015 to over €22.7 billion in 2019.
