On Tuesday, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced that this had begun vaccinating pregnant women against COVID-19.

Beginning on Tuesday, all DHA vaccination facilities in Dubai started giving the vaccine to pregnant women.

To receive the vaccine, you must first pre-register and make an appointment using DHA's smart application or DHA WhatsApp on 800342.

According to Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital for Women and Children, the Authority is striving to extend its coverage of all social groups and segments qualified to get the vaccination in Dubai, in accordance with a strategic plan put out on December 23 of last year.

Including pregnant women in the vaccine programme would protect them from infection risks and boost overall protection in the community, she claims. She emphasized that the immunization campaign is a critical step in fighting COVID-19.

DHA has set aside the necessary doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to vaccinate pregnant women in the emirate. Pregnant women, especially those who have underlying health issues, should contact with a specialized doctor who's been tracking their pregnancy before getting the vaccination, according to Dr. Tahlak. The vaccination would be given in two doses, so it is advised that the vaccine should be provided after the first 13 weeks of pregnancy.
