According to WHO, 50% of people who require mental health care do not seek it

Depression has been one of the primary causes of disability, as per to the World Health Organization.

Suicide is the second-highest major cause of death among those of the age group of 15 to 29. People with serious mental illnesses die up to two decades sooner as a result of avoidable physical diseases.

Despite the fact they needed it; over 50% of survey participants did not seek mental health help despite its urgent requirement.

As per the Meru Health study, the most common reasons included were "too expensive" (38%), "too complicated" (35%), and "don't have enough time" (28%).

One-quarter of participants were concerned about stigma or anonymity, and 23% did not seek care because they couldn't locate a therapist.

On average, one out of every four employees (24%) would choose digital mental health counseling rather than in-person support.

30% of employees might prefer a service that allows them to interact with providers online or via SMS on a daily or as-needed basis.

"It astounds me that so many individuals are not seeking the necessary mental health care," says a Meru Health spokeswoman.

"I hope that one day, receiving care for mental health challenges will be as simple and stigma-free as seeking care for any other health condition."

To get there, companies must guarantee that all employees are well aware of their mental health benefits, and such initiatives are entirely confidential, and there is no shame in seeking treatment for the same.

Offering digital choices provides a low-threshold and versatile alternative for receiving treatment whenever and wherever it is required. It also enables asynchronous care: you can seek support and chat to someone whenever you require it, rather than waiting for your appointment."
