‘Be cautious,' advises the health minister of laxity in preventative measures ahead of Eid

Princess Tarfa

Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Health, has cautioned each and everyone against public's carelessness in following preventative measures ahead of Eid Al-Fitr.

“Go to Eid prayer carrying your own carpet only, keep wearing the mask continually, and disinfect your hands compulsorily before and after the Eid. Make sure to maintain a safe space between you and others,” Al-Rabiah stated in a series of tweets on Wednesday."

"I'm concerned about you, and I want you all to be safe.”

"Be cautious of kissing or embracing children, even if their infections are slight or even without symptoms, because they can be the reason to spread the virus extensively. Therefore it is necessary to safeguard the elderly, especially those who have not yet got the vaccination," the minister warned.

"I still remember with grief Eid Al-Adha of last year, because, at that time, people were irresponsible in implementing preventative measures, which resulted in the infections spreading and eventually led to the death of 2,000 people," Al-Rabiah said.

"Please do not transform this joyful festival of Eid into an Eid of grief."

Furthermore, the Saudi Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that over 11 million COVID-19 vaccine doses had been delivered through 587 immunization locations around the country.
