According to Arab News, the Green Middle East initiative will implement a range of ambitious programs aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the region by 60% and planting 50 billion trees in the world's largest tree plantation drive.

The Saudi Crown Prince said, "As a leading global oil producer, we are well aware of our responsibility in advancing the fight against the climate crisis."

The tree-planting project will be twice the size of the Great Green Wall in Saudi Arabia's Sahel region, which is the region's second-largest afforestation project.

The initiative aims to raise the percentage of protected land in each country to more than 30%, exceeding the global goal of 17% in each country.

Renewable energy ventures will supply 50 % of the Kingdom's electricity output by 2030. It will reduce carbon emissions by more than four percent of global contributions. Using renewable hydrocarbon technology, the project is supposed to eliminate over 130 million tons of Carbon dioxide.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would collaborate with these countries to share expertise and exchange experiences, resulting in a reduction of more than 60% in carbon emissions,” he said, adding that the joint initiative will result in a reduction of more than 10% of global contributions in carbon emissions.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, assured Saudi Arabia of the UAE's full cooperation on this initiative. It was affirmed during a phone call on Monday.

Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Sudan, and Iraq are among the countries that have expressed interest in participating in the initiative. Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan recently praised the project.
