Recent pictures of Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie with her body covered with honeybees

Angelina Jolie endured 18 minutes with 60,000 bees covering her body and face, captured by famed photographer Dan Winters, without donning any sort of protective equipment.

The photoshoot has been conducted in collaboration with 'National Geographic' to encourage bee dialogue on World Bee Day (May 20) and motivate women into becoming beekeepers.

This also intended to reproduce Richard Avedon's renowned 1981 photo "The Beekeeper."

UNESCO and Guerlain have named Jolie the "Godmother" of Women for Bees, with the goal of training and supporting female beekeeper-entrepreneurs across the world.

As per a social media statement by the magazine, the effort promises to "construct 2,500 beehives and refill 125 million bees by 2025 while educating and assisting 50 women beekeepers."

Winters, a beekeeper, stated in the article, "When I was assigned to work with Angelina, my biggest concern was safety."

Shooting during the epidemic with the full crew and live bees complicated the execution. And I understood that using the same approach that Richard Avedon used 40 years ago to make his classic beekeeping photograph would be the only way to assure we got the appropriate aesthetic for the photo.

I enlisted the assistance of my buddy Konrad Bouffard, a skilled beekeeper. He approached the entomologist who created a particular scent for Avedon (known as queen mandibular pheromone, or QMP) and collaborated with him to get the photograph of beekeeper Ronald Fisher, which featured in his book "The American West."

The entomologist volunteered to let us employ the Avedon shoot's real pheromone. Konrad kept the Italian bees calm during the session."

"Everyone else on set, except Angelina, had to wear a protective suit," he continued. To keep the bees peaceful, it must be quiet and somewhat dark. I sprayed the pheromone on her body in the areas where I wanted bees to assemble. The pheromone attracts bees, but it also urges them not to swarm. We also arranged a huge number of bees on a plank in front of her waist.

Angelina remained still for 18 minutes when covered with bees. Being in the presence of bees has always been an awe-inspiring experience for me. This shoot, I believe, had been an awe-inspiring occasion for everyone who attended, and our contribution to World Bee Day does have its roots in photography history.

We are not only commemorating bees and beekeepers everywhere today by creating this picture precisely 40 years later and we're also remembering Avedon, his famous picture, and the process by which it was accomplished."
